AI Provider Setup in Rixoffice

Published September 4, 2026Updated September 4, 20267 min read

Configure AI in Rixoffice: use built-in Rix AI, connect OpenRouter, Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini, DeepSeek, run Ollama locally, or add a custom endpoint.

On this page

Rixoffice is provider-agnostic: one Settings screen decides whose intelligence powers the AI composer in all five apps.

Choose a provider

Open Settings, then the AI provider section. You will see these options:

ProviderWhat you needBest for
Built-in Rix AIA Rixcart sign-in and an active planZero setup, metered credits
OpenRouterAn OpenRouter API keyOne key for many models
Anthropic (Claude)A Claude API keyLong-document reasoning
OpenAIAn OpenAI API keyGPT models with your own billing
Google GeminiA Gemini API keyFast multimodal work
DeepSeekA DeepSeek API keyCost-effective reasoning
OllamaOllama installed locally100% offline, fully private AI
CustomAn OpenAI-compatible base URLSelf-hosted or niche providers

Use the built-in Rix AI

  1. Sign in with your Rixcart account.
  2. Make sure a plan is active — Starter includes 20 credits, Standard AI 99, Pro 399 and Premium 1,200 per month.
  3. That is it: open any document and the composer works immediately. Credits appear in the app and on the credit usage page.

Connect your own key

  1. Choose the provider, for example OpenRouter.
  2. Paste your API key. The key is stored locally on your device.
  3. Pick the model you want from the model list.
  4. Press Test — Rixoffice sends a tiny request to verify the key. A green result means you are ready.

BYO keys are never metered: no credits are consumed when you use your own provider.

Run AI fully offline with Ollama

  1. Install Ollama from ollama.com on Windows, macOS or Linux.
  2. In a terminal, pull a model, for example: ollama pull llama3
  3. Keep Ollama running (it listens on localhost by default).
  4. In Rixoffice Settings choose Ollama, then select the model you pulled.
  5. Try the composer — it now works with no internet connection at all.

Ollama is available on the Pro API & Local plan and above. This is the strongest privacy option: documents, prompts and answers never leave your machine.

Use a custom endpoint

Self-hosting an OpenAI-compatible server such as llama.cpp server, LM Studio or vLLM? Choose Custom, enter the base URL (for example http://localhost:8080/v1), add an API key if your server requires one, and test.

Switching providers any time

You can change provider per moment, not per month: use built-in Rix AI on a laptop trip, Ollama on a flight, and your Claude key for heavy writing — the composer, agents and per-app skills behave identically regardless of the engine behind them.

Quick steps

  1. Open Settings and go to the AI provider section.
  2. Pick a provider: built-in Rix AI, OpenRouter, Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini, DeepSeek, Ollama or Custom.
  3. Enter your API key or base URL and test the connection.
  4. Start a chat in any app to confirm AI is working.

Frequently asked questions

Which AI providers does Rixoffice support?

Rixoffice supports the built-in Rix AI (subscription credits), OpenRouter, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, OpenAI, DeepSeek, Ollama for local models, and any custom OpenAI-compatible endpoint with a base URL you provide.

Can I use Rixoffice AI completely offline?

Yes. Install Ollama, pull a model such as llama3, and select Ollama in Rixoffice Settings. On the Pro API & Local plan this keeps every AI feature running on your own machine with no internet.

Do my API keys leave my device?

No. Keys you enter for OpenRouter, Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini, DeepSeek or custom endpoints are stored locally in the app and used only to call your chosen provider directly. BYO keys are never metered by Rixcart.
